Hyde Park works

North British Railway Class H 4-4-2 No. 880 Tweeddale is seen shortly after delivery from NBL's Hyde Park Works in August 1906. Just visible is the ogee in the running-plate where it narrwed behind the cylinders. Only the first batch of 14 NBR 4-4-2s had this feature, and these were increased to full-width with wider cabs when the locomotives were superheated from 1915 onwards. This feature gave the impression that the height of the cab windows was raised when in fact the eaves of the roof were lower. N.B. Photo probably not at Hyde Park Works: location to be identified.
